The SQL Azure Database Firewall: Now The DBA Applies Network Security Schemes to Protect Cloud Databases

Howard Pincham

SQL Azure Database is Microsoft's database as a service offering. You plan to deploy it to quickly solve an immediate need. You ask, 'if your database is available for applications to consume and developers to manipulate over the Internet, what keeps others from accessing it in the same manner'? In this session, we will discover how the SQL Azure Database firewall controls access to your Azure DB server and its individual databases. We will review basic networking concepts and demonstrate the configuration and use of the database firewall. At the end of the session, you will be able to properly control access to your SQL Azure Database.
