ONSSUG January Prof Dev Night

  • In-Person @ 6050 Oak Tree Blvd. Independence, Ohio, United States (map)
  • 17:00 - 20:00 (UTC-05:00) Eastern Time (US & Canada)
  • Language: English

Hello,

Please note the date has changed for January. We'll be meeting the second Tuesday of the month. Same building, but instead of the Microsoft room we'll be in the basement conference room that we used during the time the MS room was getting renovated.

Also this month we'll be trying something different. Instead of our usual session from a speaker, we have invited TEKsystems to come and do an open forum type night with some breakout sessions as well. Below is the agenda. The idea is to put people in the job market in front of people who are out there looking for talent to fill positions. We're hoping that people looking for new jobs will come away with some tips and tricks to find their next position.

RSVP: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/onssug-january-meeting-prof-dev-night-tickets-30209349979

We'll start with a PASS video session at 5pm then get into the event at 6pm.

Agenda:

  • Paul to introduce TEKsystems- history with them
  • TEK to introduce Account Manager/Recruiters- high level overview of current market/clients hiring DBA’s- what skills they are looking for
  • Break out of 3 tables
    • o Table 1- resume writing/reviewing of resume/sample resumes- what “buzz words” should be listed on the resume (bring your resumes/cover letters)
    • o Table 2-Interview tips/Mock interviews & preparation/Thank You notes- follow up after the interview (discuss what is covered in phone screen vs on site interviews/ why thank you notes are so important, how are you currently prepping for interviews)
    • o Table 3- LinkedIn- Set up for success & Networking in the community

Q& A- as group & Networking

Lastly, we would like to announce a fantastic end of the night drawing. SQLskills is going to donate to ONE lucky, random drawing winner the time for a mock interview (up to one hour) and time after to "review" the interview, etc. (up to one hour). There will not be anything provided in the form of written documentation or feedback, and the "candidate" would need to provide one to three job descriptions that represent the type of job they're seeking (so that Erin Stellato will have something to work off of for applicable questions). TEK and ONSSUG would like to say thanks again to SQLskills for their generosity for this fantastic opportunity.
