Troubleshooting 101: managing communications and expectations

Eddie Mitchell, Senior Data Developer

When you think of troubleshooting, what comes to mind first? Is it the bad data? Broken network communications? Down servers or poorly written code? Every definition points to some kind of "solving computer or mechanical issues in systems" but no definitions talk about what I believe is the toughest and most important part of troubleshooting: managing communications and expectations. In this session, we'll talk though the phases of troubleshooting in order to shed some light on the non-technical aspects that will make your troubleshooting adventures more successful.

About Eddie:
Eddie Mitchell is a Senior Data Developer and general IT ninja. He has over 10 years of General IT experience, five of which are database focused. Eddie is passionate about MSSQL, Elasticsearch and any crossover between the two. While still wearing the jack-of-all-trades hat, he also enjoys virtualization and the integration of data with operations. Outside of work he can be found spending time with his family, tinkering with a Raspberry Pi or playing Magic: The Gathering.
